METHODOLOGY
How the Programmes Work
Every Modelcraft programme is built around structured reading and practical exercises. The reading is annotated — not a wall of text, but a spread with margin notes that point at what matters and why. The exercises are submitted and returned with written feedback.
Live sessions, where they occur, are kept small enough for actual discussion. The Long Studio Programme adds project milestones and mentor reviews to build a body of work over time.
Read
Annotated modules introduce concepts in sequence, building vocabulary and understanding gradually.
Practice
Exercises apply the reading to real problems. Participants submit work for review — not just for self-assessment.
Discuss
In cohort and studio programmes, live sessions and written threads create space for questions and different perspectives.
Build
In the Long Studio Programme, work accumulates into a portfolio of exercises developed over seven months.

PROGRAMME 01
Margin Reader Series
A short reader series introducing the conceptual vocabulary of modern AI through textbook-style modules with margin commentary. Each module covers a distinct area — what AI systems are, how they are trained, what their outputs mean, and how to think critically about their use.
Entirely self-paced, with no fixed schedule. Access to a quiet weekly Q&A thread means participants can ask questions without waiting for a live session.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Full set of annotated reader modules
- Margin commentary on key concepts
- Weekly Q&A thread access
- Self-paced with no expiry on access
BEST FOR
People who want to build a working vocabulary for AI at their own pace, without committing to a cohort schedule. Good as a starting point before the Studio Cohort.

PROGRAMME 02
Studio Cohort
A twelve-week studio-style cohort working through a curated set of practical AI exercises. The cohort format is central to how this programme works: a small group follows the same material together, attends the same live sessions, and submits exercises that are returned with written feedback.
Cohort sizes are intentionally kept small so that the weekly live session functions as a seminar — a space for questions and discussion — rather than a lecture that happens to be interactive.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Twelve weeks of structured material
- Weekly live session (recorded)
- Course reader included
- Written feedback on submitted exercises
- Small cohort format
MOST POPULAR
Participants who want structure, live interaction, and feedback on their work. The combination of scheduled sessions and small group size makes this the most socially engaging format.

PROGRAMME 03
Long Studio Programme
A seven-month studio programme combining structured reading, project milestones, and mentor reviews. The longer timeline is there for a reason: some ideas need time to settle, and a portfolio of work develops gradually, not in a sprint.
Participants build a steady body of practical exercises across the seven months, reviewed at milestone points by a mentor. The programme is educational in scope and does not function as a formal qualification.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Seven months of structured reading
- Project milestone reviews
- Mentor review sessions
- Portfolio of practical work
- Full course reader and module access
BEST FOR
Participants who want the most thorough engagement with the material and have time for a longer commitment. The portfolio focus suits those who want something to show at the end, not just a certificate.
